My new favorite youtube show

I haven't been into the whole youtube subscribe shows but this one caught my eye and I've been watching it religiously every week.

It's a very short comedy commentary on viral videos that used to be more politically focused but I think it's actually better now. Episodes are usually 2-4 minutes long.

Equals Three with Ray William Johnson
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XA3YFxYHx6o

Amazon movies on demand from your player.

Few months ago we got a blu-ray player what said you could get movies on demand. Well, much to our disappointment, we found that they hadn't set it up yet. Well, today is the day.

Amazon just recently changed their on demand movies/tv shows to "devices" as well as tv. We turned on our player and sure enough. We spent the evening browsing the free stuff.

I think we'll probably order some episodes of Bones, House, Doll House, and Fringe. I really wish they had Twin Peaks and True Blood. :(

Sucks I have to work tomorrow.

I purchased plywood, a drill, and bits so I could make a hookup for my A/C unit for the sliding glass door. Even with the A/C, the house inside is still 90 degrees.

Something Awful Goons cause Sarah Palin to resign? Seriously!

Somethingawful.com front page tells it all!

The same goons who baught Joe Biden a pizza have topped themselvse by getting Palin to use them as a scapegoat for why she resigned. No seriously!

After Palin complained about the blogger who Photoshopped her baby, the goons went crazy with a Photoshop thead of their own, got on the Huffington Post, and then into Palin's speech.

"I think much of it had to do with the kids seeing their baby brother Trig mocked by some pretty mean-spirited adults recently."

Of course she missed the point that they were making fun of her, not her kid.

The full SomethingAwful.com apology.
Something Awful Palin Photoshop thread.
Huffington Post Article.

I'm so proud to be a goon!

EDIT: Time.com gives SA a nod in Preposterous Week!, scroll down to Palin.

I got my first nigerian scam email!!!

Greetings!!!
I am Mr Peterson Adams.I have been waiting for you to contact me for your Confirmable Bank Draft of($800.000.00) United States Dollars, but I did not hear from you. Then I went and deposit the Draft with FedEx Delivery,West Africa,I travelled out of the country for a 3Months Course and I will not come back till end of March. What you have to do now is to contact the FedEx Delivery as soon as possible to know when they will deliver your package to you because of the expiring date.For your information, I have paid for the delivering Charge, Insurance premium and Clearance Certificate Fee of the Cheque showing that it is not a Drug Money or meant to sponsor Terrorist attack in your Country. The only money you will send to the FedEx Delivery to deliver your Draft direct to your postal Address in your country is ($195) Dollars only being Security Keeping Fee of the Delivery Company so far. Again,don't be deceived by anybody to pay any other money except ($195) Dollars .I would have paid that but they said no because they don't know when you will contact them and in case of demurrage.You have to contact the FedEx Delivery now for the delivery of your Draft with this information below;

Name: Address: Age:

Marital Status: Nationality: Phone Number:

Contact Person: Mr.Mark Harrison.
Email:[edit]
Telephone:[edit]
Do not forget to contact me when you have receive your package. Have a great day!!!
Regards. Mrs. Williams

I think it's rad that they say they are Mr. Peterson Adams and then sign off with Mrs. Williams.

We're probably getting a puppy.

We've been talking about this for years, planning for a few months, and because of a twist of fate, we are probably getting a puppy soon. We already told them yes to the owner of the father dog but need to hear back from the owner of the mother dog.

This is her:

Hey, Chad! Puppy is south of Portland, any chance we could stop by for a pit stop on our drive? If all works out, we would like to make it down there this weekend or on New Years Day. Whatta say?

Also, the wireless on M's laptop died. Actually the whole e-net. HP is sending a return label. Here's hoping they send us an upgraded laptop or credit for a new one.

I kid you not. They both know how to turn the surge protector off and have done it so many times that we had cardboard over the switch. They figured out how to move it. Looks like this was the last straw. Bono switched it off right in the middle of a boss fight in Wizard 101. Power wouldn't come back on. Checked protector, it works, checked switch in the back, checked the cable, checked the voltage switch, changed the plug. Nothing. Justin thinks the motherboard might be fried. oh lord.

It's called a flathat. It's 100% Irish wool! It was a little pricey but wraethwolf didn't mind. I am seriously thinking of getting a dark gray, rabbit fur Akubra. The one I tried on was $172.50! XO But the salesmen said it would take all sorts of abuse and probably last about a decade. I just have to be totally sure that I'll wear it and that it won't just be another short attention span obsession of mine. I'm kinda thinking it's not though... hmmm... maybe for Christmas?

G&E's wedding was awesome!

Had a blast at the wedding. G&E couldn't stop making out with each other during the entire time. I dressed in a pin stripped suit with a black fedora. Played chess with my best friend while the night was winding down and some old relative could contain himself and started telling us what moves to make. The guy could have been playing himself, but it was all fun. Saw lots of good friends that I haven't seen in a long time. Makes me realize I need to be better at keeping in touch.

Too tired to post pictures today, I'll get them up as soon as I can.

On a side note, I think I'm going to become a hat collector. It actually said "FULL" as I was just a couple cars from paying but they let me in because of the disabled parking. Lucky... very lucky.

Still had to walk about... 6 blocks for the length of the convention center i think. Well, at least they have free wi-fi.

We'll see if I last the day, yesterday was the "light" day but had nothing light about it. And considering today is going to be busier but not the busiest (reserved for Saturday), I can't even comprehend how it's going to be.

Doors open in 65 minutes... coffee shop opens in 35 minutes.

heh.

I'm writing this from the floor of the Comic Con. It is a MADHOUSE. I haven't been here in over 8 years and I have to say that it has quadrupled in size. My god. We got here at 8am and I couldn't find parking and it took an hour and a half to go 4 blocks. I finally parked about a mile away and took the trolley. We're gonna have to get here at 6am to get parking which is fine since we have laptops and pancake houses close by.

We got our first artist commission. Really nice guy with great art and bargin price for his work. Full color 11x17 with two characters and background for 150 bucks. We are also going to buy one print and possibly bid on some art at the art show.

Since we are planning on doing a collaborative graphic novel, we are going to try to get into a bunch of the 'up and coming' panels. The first we saw was independent artest/writers/creaters.

Here's some pictures:
Comic Con first 2 days.

O MY GOTH

So wraethwolf recently got me into Johnny Hollow (especially the song Stolen). It's like rockin goth music that sounds a little like tori, a little like Cocteau Twins, and definitely like Siouxsie. I really have issues with the male spoken word stuff mostly because it seems like he can't keep rhythm but he really redemes himself in Shock Me Peter.

Basically, if you dig goth music and you like distortion violins, you'll dig Johnny Hollow.

On a side note, I broke 3 boards in Tae Kwon Do, one fist, one kick, and one elbow. All 5 blackbelts signed my boards and I'm now tempted to hang them up in the house

Fostering perks

So we attended the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner in Kent, for the Kent Animal Shelter. Since we've been fostering for years, we were invited. We got a little certificate that we'll need to frame. The cool thing is Ron Sims was there to hand out some awards and announce that the we'll be getting a new Animal Shelter building! Totally exciting considering the bad press the shelter has been getting lately. I tried to express my frustration in that it's the communities fault for the failure in the shelter, not the staff. But now the community is taking action so it's pretty cool.

They had a silent auction which I won two items: A dog camping crate and a car hammock for dogs. Yup. I don't own a dog. But, it's for a good cause; I never would have paid for these items much less spent how much I did if it wasn't for charity. Plus I got to see M raise an eyebrow at me with a "I guess you want a dog" response. Is it that obvious? ;D

I was going through some old photos that I haven't sorted yet and found this one.

It's what happens when this solvent, that I use at my work, dries under warm conditions (ie summer). The solvent hasn't been forming crystals like this recently because it's been too cold.

The situation has made a turn for the worst.

So my current fostering has brought up an sad, yet interesting moral dilemma. The short of it: The shelter may end up putting one of our kittens to sleep.

We took Nicolai to our own vet yesterday to get some advice about his size, his energy level, and the fact that he sometimes acts like he's crashing (ie, eyes dilated, can't keep head up). The vet said there's a good chance it's a liver condition (shunt?) and not to get too attached to the kitten. He did want to help though and is giving us some ideas on how to deal with it till we take him back to the shelter. Here in lies the problem. The shelter will not adopt out a kitten that has a condition that directly relates to his development and over all survival. It wouldn't be ethical because the new owner would be faced with the possibility of having a multi-thousand dollar surgery bill or lose the kitten early in life. And a point that the vet made was that, it would be a shame to shell out thousands of dollars on one kitten that has a bad condition when that money could potentially save hundreds of animals at the shelter.

This is hard to really understand because we want to save every life. I mean if we lived in a perfect world, our pets would walk around with diamond studded collars and have vet care that would rival our own health care. Also, if we lived in an ideal world, we wouldn't need animal shelters because people would actually get their pets fixed and then properly take care of them. A coworker of mine was just telling me how her cat had kittens because she didn't know they could breed before they are a year old. I had to physically control myself.

In the end, I'm sad and I'm mad. But not at the shelter, at people who allow this kind of thing to perpetuate. I'm doing everything I can and, to some extent, I'm able to allow, emotionally, the shelter to do what it needs to do, even if that means putting Nicolai down. But we aren't going to distance ourselves from him and we aren't going to neglect him. We will give him the best rest of his life he can have. And maybe he won't need to be put down. None of this is certain because they can't even test him at this age. So there's still a chance, although slim, that he will be ok. I'm going to give him that chance if I can.
